TANTS MIT MIR
2012
This album is our musical walk—a stroll through Eastern Europe. Let’s dance! To the Polish Szabasówka, the kazachok and bulgar in Odessa. In a nearby town we attend the wedding of Mizinka, go to the market with a little boy, and listen to a girl singing about how she loves her Shloymele. Where Ukraine ends and Slovakia begins, we dance again—what else but kolomyjky and Moyshe? We move on to Vojvodina, singing about a small, seductive gypsy girl, and then slip into wild Serbian dances. A brief stop in Kosovo, and finally a Greek dance. Exhausted, we fall into melancholy. Originally Jewish sevdalinka songs—Moj Dilbere and Kad ja pođoh na Bembašu—are whispered through the streets of Sarajevo. And at the end? Lawless, winged, and unconfined…
The CD features collaborations with several renowned guest musicians, and the album was awarded the prestigious Radio Head Award for 2012.
