Pressburger Kezmer Big Band

SLOVAK KLEZMER ASSOCIATION & REAL MUSIC HOUSE, 2025

While recording their previous album, Preßburger Klezmer Band invited, among others, three guest musicians playing trumpet, trombone, and saxophone. The band enjoyed this expanded lineup so much that they decided to create an entire concert program for a 10-member “big band”—and they were right to do so. The program is full of tremendous energy, both for the musicians and for the audience. After successfully touring Slovakia with it, they decided to record these pieces on an album marking the band’s 30th anniversary.

The recording was made live at a concert held on the exact day of the 30th anniversary of their very first performance. It features a wide range of dance-driven pieces and songs, some inspired by the American Golden Age of klezmer. You will also find Balkan influences, ska, and occasionally more introspective moods. With a running time of over 70 minutes, the album truly delivers “value for money.”
